SIG Meetings

 

Cliff Notes Club Meeting

Date: July 8th 2009
Time: 6:45pm – 8:30pm  (audio starts at 7 pm)
Where: The Learning Pad - 10435 Burnet Rd, Austin  
Book:  The 7 Triggers to Yes: The New Science Behind Influencing People’s Decisions By Russell H. Granger

Unlike other book clubs, no pre-reading is necessary. Participants get to listen to a recorded book summary of popular business or leadership books (about 45 minutes) and then discuss that summary. Transcripts of the recording are available while listening, but are collected back to preserve copyright.  Food and drink are allowed. Bring Notetaking supplies.

Instructional Design Meeting

Date: July 23rd, 2009
Time: 6:30pm – 8:30pm
Location: Enspire Learning 1708 Guadalupe St Austin, TX 78701
Speaker: Robin Brandenburg, Director of Momentum & Innovation at Six Red Marbles

Robin Brandenburg, the Director of Momentum and Innovation at Six Red Marbles, will be speaking and discussing how to collect field data and produce a tested design in 1-8 weeks as it pertains to Contextual Design methodology.

The Instructional Design & eLearning SIG gives Austin ASTD members and guest attendees an opportunity to hear presentations and discuss topics related to instructional design and educational technology. Meetings are held on the fourth Thursday of each month. The focus of meetings alternates between instructional design and eLearning, with many topics addressing both areas.
